Hello,
My favorite class in high school was of course Machine Shop.
They called it Industrial Maintenance. Got a job at a Tool and Die Shop my senior year. Operated some
very large equipment including a 24 foot lathe. Went to some other non industrial jobs after that.
Earned my Associates Degree from the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (P.I.A.) in 1991 and aquired my
F.A.A Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics License. After a brief marriage, I moved to California in 1992 to
spend some time with my Pop. He lived in a resort town on the Northern end of Napa Valley. Had a great
time but couldn't find any work. Came back to WV and got my CDL license. Drove a semi for a while and
saw lots of Interstate. Mostly hauled steel coils to mills east of the Mississippi. Didn't like being on the
road all the time, never had time to do anything. Since then I've worked for a large manufacturing plant in
WV. Started out in the Machine Shop, worked my way up to foreman. Took a job as the Prototype
Machinist for the R & D Dept.for a few years. Now work in the Tool and Die Dept. We have a large CNC
Mill (Matsuura) and Lathe (Mori Seike) but Dave and Pete run them. I wanted to learn how, so I decided to
build my own Mill and teach myself. So far so good. My lathe is next.
Below are some samples of the types of larger equipment I have operated over the years.
